Lead Trade-in Program

Because of a large number of people able to use the CCGC casting equipment, the furnaces are kept full at all times with known lead alloys and because of their community nature, we reserve the right to control the lead alloys going into the furnaces. Therefore, you are not allowed to add your own lead to the furnaces; all lead used must be purchased from CCGC.

The CCGC Lead Trade-in Program allows you to exchange your lead for ours per the following.

The term "refined lead" used below means the lead is clean (fluxed) and free of all foreign objects.

  • If you have refined lead that you wish to use, CCGC will credit the amount of lead that you provide regardless of alloy type towards a pound-for-pound exchange of CCGC alloy in finished form.

Example: You provide CCGC 10 pounds of refined lead, CCGC will provide you credit for 10 pounds of cast items (bullets, sinkers, toys, etc.) to be weighed when you are finished casting.

  • The exchange rate for unrefined lead such as wheel weights with clips attached is 1 pound of raw lead to 0.70 pounds of CCGC refined lead alloy.

Example: You provide CCGC 10 pounds of raw lead, such as wheel weights with the clips still attached, CCGC will provide you credit for 7 pounds of cast items to be weighed when you are finished casting.

  • In all cases, you pay for what you use - not the sprue.

Note - Raw lead plates salvaged from lead-acid batteries are not included in this program.
